About me
I have over four years’ experience in non-profit investigative journalism. I am currently a research assistant at the Institute for Journalism and Social Change (IJSC), where my work has focused primarily on financial accountability investigations, covering international human rights issues.
In 2024, I co-authored an investigation exposing shops on Etsy operating from illegal Israeli settlements, which I submitted to a UN call for input. I also reflected on this investigation as a contributor to the IJSC’s Feminist Investigative Journalism Handbook, for which I was part of the editorial team. In 2023, I was part of a cross-border investigation that revealed Western aid donors had funded organisations groups backing Uganda’s anti-LGBT Bill. The findings led several donors to withdraw their funding.
I have spoken at the International Journalism Festival in Perugia about global feminist investigations, on a panel moderated by Mona Eltahawy, and delivered workshops on follow-the-money methodologies; to SOAS students on the MA Global Data Journalism programme, as well as through Noor’s ‘Know Your Enemy’ Popular Education School.
Previously, I was investigations editor at Truth Defence, where I covered state disinformation and threats to free speech. In 2022, I fact-checked and developed a live timeline tracking disinformation related to the war in Ukraine. I also worked in partnership with Hacked Off as part of the organising team behind People’s Leveson Part 2, held in Parliament in November 2022.
I hold a Master’s degree in Investigative Reporting from Birkbeck, University of London.
